During the 2-days conference at Luxor, the internationals speakers and posters, coming from various missions of Theban Valley, presented a wide range of topics. They provided information of great interest for the discipline and enabled and enabled key moments of discussions around their work and ongoing researches.
The PTAH Symposium committee would like to thank all the participants and its partners, in particular the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. We do hope that this first symposium will be the starter of a regular series for conservation-restoration conferences. The proceedings of the conference will follow and should provide much-needed documentation for conservators throughout Egypt; this for the sake of a magnificent heritage that is admired in the world over.

The CFEETK will also collaborate with a visit of the work site within the Karnak temples enclosure on the morning of Thursday 7 November (8-12am). Registration is required for this visit.
The French-Egyptian Centre for the Study of the Temples of Karnak (CFEETK- MoTA/CNRS) is pleased to announce a new symposium to be held in Luxor on the 7th and 8th of February 2025: the Preservation and Transmission of Archeological Heritage symposium (PTAH). The conference will take place at the Mummification Museum in Luxor.
A Call for Communications is now open to all Egyptian and international conservators working in the Theban valley (and other professionals whose work is related to conservation).
To submit your communications, please send us by e-mail a title, an abstract of 300 words maximum and the chosen theme (see the call for communications pdf for further informations) by the 14th of August 2024 at ptah.symposium@gmail.com.

Depuis plus de cinquante ans la France et l’Égypte œuvrent en parallèle sur le prestigieux site de Karnak en collaboration étroite grâce au CFEETK (Centre franco-égyptien d’étude des temples de Karnak) créé en 1967. Notre conférence invite le public à une promenade dans l’espace et le temps, afin de découvrir ce que ce partenariat franco-égyptien exceptionnel offre en terme de réalisations et de perspectives pour la recherche archéologique. Les travaux des égyptologues Auguste Mariette (1821-1881), Georges Legrain (1865-1917), Maurice Pillet (1881-1964) et Henri Chevrier (1897-1974) seront évoqués, jusqu’à la création du musée de plein air et les premières reconstructions : celle de la chapelle blanche de Sésostris Ier et celle de calcite d’Amenhotep Ier. Des découvertes remarquables seront passées en revue, comme celle de la cachette de la cour du 7e pylône ou celle de la seconde stèle de Kamosis, puis le démontage du 9e pylône et les assemblages de talatates d’Akhenaton. Dans ce véritable musée à ciel ouvert, différents projets de remontage seront également révélés au grand public notamment celui de la chapelle rouge d’Hatchepsout, des chapelles de calcite d’Amenhotep II, de Thoutmosis III et IV, de la cour à portiques de Thoutmosis IV. D’autres projets de remontage du complexe monumental d’Amenhotep Ier voient le jour, sur financement du Ministère de l’Europe et des Affaires étrangères, au cœur du musée de plein air. Enfin des interventions récentes seront présentées comme le remontage de la stèle d’Amenhotep II au sud du 8e pylône, la restauration des statues d’Amon et d’Amonet et celle de la paroi nord de la salle des Annales de Thoutmosis III.
